How to prevent chemical sand sticking defects in cast iron platform castings?

In order to prevent chemical sticking of sand, measures can be taken in the following two aspects:

 

1. Try to avoid the formation of low melting point compounds at the casting/mold interface of the cast iron platform. For molding materials, it is mainly to use molding materials with high refractoriness and high thermochemical stability, such as high-grade sand. For some large cast iron platform castings and high alloy steel castings, sand making, iron ore sand, olive oil can be considered Non-material sand such as stone sand and brown corundum sand are used as molding (core) sand. A coating with high refractoriness and no chemical reaction with molten metal is applied to the surface of the sand mold (core).

 

2. To promote the formation of a sinterable surface sand layer that is easy to peel off, the main measures are as follows.

 

a. Create a certain oxidizing atmosphere at the metal/mold interface.

 

b. Add iron oxide, manganese oxide or slag powder.

 

c. For the sticky sand shell of cast iron platform iron castings, try to increase the thickness of the bright carbon film.

 

d. Add substances that are conducive to sintering, or use easy-to-peel sintered coatings.
