The process and method of correctly placing the leveling pads on the surface of the concrete foundation before the equipment is installed in place. The leveling pad is also called the shim. The commonly used shim is made of ordinary carbon steel plate, section steel, cast iron and other materials according to specifications and sizes. There are also processed and manufactured according to the special requirements of the equipment, such as stainless steel leveling pad and hook heads in pairs, horn etc. Inclined shim irons generally do not have specific specifications, and they are generally designed according to the weight of the equipment and customized processing.

The accuracy of the oblique shim is generally 12.5, which is a general rough precision, 6.3 is an intermediate precision, 3.2 is a high-precision, and 0.8 is a slanted shim grinder grinding plane. Its purpose is to prevent the equipment from tilting and vibration during operation, to ensure that the equipment is in a horizontal and stable state during operation, to reduce equipment wear, to ensure the good operation of the equipment and the higher precision of the workpiece. According to the general regulations of flat shim, the material of oblique leveling pad can be ordinary carbon steel or cast iron.
The function of setting the leveling pad between the equipment base and the foundation surface is: the inclined leveling pad adjusts the elevation and levelness of the equipment to correct the slight deformation of the equipment base; the load of the equipment includes the equipment weight, anchor bolt tension and other additional forces, etc. Transfer to the foundation; keep the distance between the equipment base and the foundation surface to ensure that the secondary grouting layer can fill the gap between the bottom surface of the equipment base and the foundation surface; when the equipment is not used for secondary grouting, the horn has a damping effect on the vibration of the equipment .
The flat leveling pad is generally rectangular, but sometimes open shim or L-shaped shim is also used due to the needs of the equipment installation location or equipment structure. Pairs of inclined shims with hook heads are generally used for equipment that is directly installed on the floor without anchor bolts. Bolt adjustment pad irons change the height of the equipment by twisting the adjusting bolts to move the two oblique irons relative to each other, which can improve the efficiency of installation and is suitable for the installation of machine tools and other equipment.
