Grinding plate is a kind of abrasive particles coated or press-embedded on the grinding plate in order to ensure the accuracy and surface finish of the workpiece. It is derived from the finishing process of the machined surface by the relative movement of the grinding plate and the workpiece under a certain pressure.

There are generally two grinding methods for grinding plates:
1. Three-plate inter-grinding method. The so-called method means that three flat plates are mutually studied in turn, and each cast iron flat plate is lowered twice, and the actual grind is 6 times in total. The result of grinding sand pressing with this method is that the flatness of the three flat plates is very good, and the sand pressing effect of the three flat plates is basically the same. All three flat plates can be used without frequent sand pressing.
2. The method of mutual research of two plates, also called the method of pressing mother and daughter plates, this method uses only two cast iron plates to study each other one on top of the other. The result of grinding and sand pressing with this method is that the flatness of the two plates are basically the same, the flatness of the upper plate is concave, and the flatness of the lower plate is convex, and the sand pressing effect of the lower plate is better than that of the upper plate. Because the upper plate is concave in the middle, it is not easy to repair the gauge block. Generally, the upper plate is not used, and only the flat plate of the lower plate is used.
