The influence of pouring speed on the quality of cast iron surface plate

Cast iron surface plate measuring tools mostly use gray cast iron or nodular cast iron for casting. Gray cast iron should be used to obtain qualified casting blanks. Through many links such as sand grinding-modeling-smelting-pouring-finishing-viewing, the quality of the castings must be controlled well.

 

 

The pouring speed has a great influence on the quality of its cast iron surface plate. During the entire pouring process, the pouring system of the cast iron surface plate mold should always be kept full of molten metal, giving the molten metal a greater static pressure, which is conducive to the improvement of the pouring speed. The fast pouring speed can provide more heat instantly to make up for the heat loss of the molten metal caused by the gasification of the model, so that the liquid metal always maintains a sufficient flow rate. On the contrary, if the pouring speed of the scribed mold is too slow, it will increase the heat loss of the molten metal and reduce its temperature, then it is easy to produce defects such as cold isolation, insufficient pouring or surface wrinkles of the riveted platform casting.

  

However, the pouring speed of the cast iron surface plate mold cannot be too fast, because too fast pouring speed will easily cause the mold to be sprinted and the molten metal will generate turbulence, resulting in the molten metal coating the cast iron surface plate model not being vaporized. The polystyrene residue and the gas is not easy to be discharged outside the mold, causing the pores and slag inclusion defects of castings. Therefore, the appropriate pouring speed should be able to make the rising speed of the molten metal in the mold equal to or close to the vaporization speed of the plastic model of the riveting platform.

 

There are many factors that affect the casting speed of the cast iron platform mold. In addition to the form of the pouring system, the pouring method and temperature, the gas permeability of the molding sand, and the type of alloy, it is also related to the shape of the cast iron platform and the density of the model.
